Just walking distance from the Osho Dehradun Commune is a beautiful Tibetan Monastery. Hundreds of Tibetan monks and students are learning meditation techniques here. There are two other monasteries in the town also but this particular monastery is unique in having a 150 ft. tall statue of Buddha and a 175 ft. high Buddhist Stupa.

Mussoorie, 31 kms from Dehradun, also known as the "Queen of Hills", was established by the British as a 'rest & recreation' station. It attracts visitors in all the seasons and is without doubt the honeymoon capital of north India.

Kempty fall, 15 kms from Mussoorie, having an altitude of 1215 mts, has the distinction of being the biggest and prettiest waterfall located in a beautiful valley and is surrounded by high mountains. A bath at the foot of the fall is refreshing and enjoyable for children and adults alike.

Haridwar is the point where the Ganga emerges from the Himalayas and begin its progress across the plains. Legend has it that the Holy Ganga the holiest of all rivers, which flows through this sacred city has actually been sanctified by the powerful trinity of Hindu mythology. The temples and the ghats, a huge number of Ashrams (hermitages) and Dharmshalas; all give the city a unique flavour and charm.

Rishikesh, at a distance of 42 kms from Dehradun, is the gateway to Garhwal Himalaya. Surrounded by the Shivalik hills of the Himalayas on three sides, Rishikesh is known as the wold capital of Yoga. Rishikesh is an ideal destination not only for the pilgrims but also for those who want to delve deeper into meditation. Compared to Haridwar, Rishikesh is more tranquil and the banks of the Ganges are cleaner for bathing. There are a number of Ashrams (hermitages) and Yoga centre which attract thousands of visitors.

Dehradun is also the gateway to all the four main shrines of paramount religious importance for Hindus: Badrinath (Distance from Dehradun 316 kms & altitude 3133 mts), Kedarnath (Distance 257 kms & altitude 3584 mts), Gangotri (Distance 285 kms & altitude 3040 mts) and Yamunotri (Distance 150 km & altitude 3235 mts).

Hemkund Sahib is very important for Sikhs as it has the Gurudwara at the highest altitude (4329 mts.). There is a beautiful lake surrounded by seven huge snow covered mountains.

The valley of the flowers has been declared as World Heritage site by UNESCO under 'natural property' section. The UNESCO website says about the Valley of flowers.
